Couples Therapy
Most important in any therapeutic process is the creation of an emotionally-safe environment in which to express one’s thoughts and feelings.
In Couples Therapy, listening to each other, and to oneself, with patience and respect is essential ... yet often needs to be re-learned.
Creating the “safe space” necessary for identifying frustrations and hurts, for addressing conflicts and misunderstandings, and especially for expressing hopes and desires for security is of primary importance.
In the course of therapy, I often recommend that couples read Dr. John Gray’s Men Are From Mars; Women Are From Venus and Dr. John M. Gottman's The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work further understand how conflicts arise and how harmony can be cultivated.
