Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is first and foremost an opportunity for personal growth and change.

"Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look there."

-- Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
(121 AD - 180 AD)
Individuals come to therapy to improve the quality of their life and resolve various problems. Those problems may be specific or vague. Understanding what the problem is, how it originated, and what has interfered with its resolution is a first step in clarifying the goals and objectives important to each individual.

Common goals in psychotherapy are to increase self-esteem and confidence; to become more effective in one’s personal and professional life; to improve one’s relationships with others; and to ease the symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress. No matter what gets stirred up, one learns that they have a choice in what they feel, what they think, and what they do.

Ms. Carboni uses positive psychology and an emphasis on experiential learning to enable changing from the inside-out and making a significant life change. Her style is collaborative, professional and forward-looking.

Often people expect psychotherapy to focus mostly on the past, but a focus on the present and the future -- on discovering inner resources and developing new skills -- is equally important.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

-- Carl Rogers

The innovative blending of Bioenergetic Analysis, Clinical Hypnosis and EMDR is unique in the field of mind-body psychotherapy and continues to distinguish Ms. Carboni’s work.

Each is a creative and powerful vehicle for making a life change. Bioenergetics is an active, body-oriented psychotherapy; Clinical Hypnosis is a state of intentional inward concentration characterized by deep body relaxation; and EMDR utilizes bilateral eye movements to facilitate the emotional and cognitive processing of distressing and traumatic experiences.

Each modality helps to identify and access inner conflicts, self-limiting beliefs, and energetic disruptions that are just beneath ordinary awareness. Positive, lasting change occurs from the inside out as one resolves those obstacles, experiences new potentials, and learns new skills.
